[STDS-802-11] Unified Channel Model (UCM) TIG: Call for Contributions

--- This message came from the IEEE 802.11 Working Group Reflector ---

Dear 802.11 participants,

hope you enjoyed the summer break and had a good start afterwards.

Thank you, Robert, for the support to lead this new Unified Channel Modeling (UCM) TIG, which is a great honor for me. I am looking forward working with you, following the charter approved by the WG at the July 2025 Plenary meeting, as summarized below. Let’s have a good start in September, with fruitful collaboration to establish a popular new channel model at the end!

With this email, I am calling for contributions you may want to present in one of our two meeting slots in the September 2025 wireless interim (Tuesday EVE 19:30-21:30 and Thursday AM2 10:30-12:30 local time).

Please kindly consider to upload your contributions to our new “UCM TIG” document server on Mentor prior to the meeting slot, and send me a short note to add it to the agenda. Note that early submission helps facilitate the review and discussion of your presentation. Also contact me if you have any issue with the upload or other items related to the UCM TIG. I am happy to help you.

Best regards,
Volker

Dear Members,

At the July session we approved the formation of the Unified Channel Model (UCM) TIG. I have appointed Volker Jungnickel as the chair of this TIG.

The UCM TIG charter is to discuss use cases and requirements, develop a Unified Channel Model (UCM) and enable performance comparison of proposals for multilink operation (MLO) across sub‑7GHz / mm-wave / optical bands. The goal of the UCM TIG is to deliver a channel model that is spatially consistent across sub-7 GHz / mm-wave / optical bands, builds on already available and verified models, can be implemented using open software, and is well documented.

At the September session, the UCM TIG will meet

Tue EVE

Thu AM2

I understand that Volker already has a number of presentations lined up.

-Robert
