The IEEE
P802.15.3 High Rate (HR) Task Group (TG3) for Wireless Personal Area NetworksTM
(WPANsTM) is chartered to draft and publish a new standard for
high-rate (20Mbs or greater) WPANsTM. Besides a high data
rate, the new standard will provide for low power, low cost solutions addressing
the needs of portable consumer digital imaging and multimedia applications.
In addition, the new HR standard will provide compatibility with the Task
Group 1 Draft Standard based upon the Bluetooth specification.

For Applications and Call For Proposals (CFA/CFP)

Our goal for the May 2000 Interim Meeting
is to continue the process of reviewing CFP/CFA response presentations.

It is anticipated that the review process
will be completed in July 2000. The candidate radio transmission technology
debates will then begin and we have established a target of November 2001
for completion of the draft standard.
