Summary

The IEEE TG3 is developing a draft standard and this HTML page provides links to both the TG3 and WG private areas to access the drafts; when applicable the links are coded as either (TG3 Password Required, Members Only) or (Password Required, Members Only) indicating which is which.

During the November, 2000 Session #9/Tampa of the 802.15.3, TG3 voting members unanimously approved the high rate wireless personal area network (WPAN-HR) media access control (MAC) proposal based upon the merger of the Kinney, Parks/Gubbi/Davis, and Heberling MAC proposals.  The PHY Layer adopted by the 802.15.3 task group operates in the unlicensed 2.4 GHz band with a minimum raw data rate of 22 Mb/s. There will be optional modes that could allow it to go as high as 66 Mb/s, although the highest data rates will have coding that will decrease this rate.  More info:
