Overview The IEEE 802.15 Task Group 4c is defining a PHY amendment which, when published, will be additive to both the IEEE Std 802.15.4™-2006 standard and the IEEE Std 802.15.4a™-2007 amendment. This PHY amendment is to address the Chinese regulatory changes which have opened the 314-316 MHz, 430-434 MHz, and 779-787 MHz bands for Wireless PAN use within China. TG4c has determined that the 779-787 MHz band should be considered for use within the IEEE 802.15.4 standard. In doing so, an agreement has been reached with the Chinese WPAN Standards Body to define both an MPSK PHY and a O-QPSK PHY as co-alternative for use in both standards. The projected timeline for this amendment to go to RevCom for final approval is Jan. 2009. Current Status TG4c has prepared an initial draft amendment and submitted it for review by members of the 802.15 Working Group in the first letter ballot which will close shortly before the May 2008 interim session. At the May 2008 interim session TG4c will address the comments from the letter ballot review. The intent is to finish comment resolution of the letter ballot by the end of the May session so that the 1^st recirculation of the letter ballot can begin shortly after the close of the session.
