Overview
The IEEE 802.15 Task Group 4e is chartered to define a MAC amendment
to the existing standard 802.15.4-2006. The intent of this amendment
is to enhance and add functionality to the 802.15.4-2006 MAC to a)
better support the industrial markets and b) permit compatibility
with modifications being proposed within the Chinese WPAN.
Current Status
In the San Francisco Plenary session, the 802.15.4e draft (d6P802-15-4e_Draft_Standard)
was approved by the 802.15 WG and LMSC executive committee to proceed
to Sponsor Ballot. The 802.15 WG has approved the Ballot
Resolution Committee (BRC) with the responsiblity of resolving comments
and editing the draft as per the comment resolutions. The Sponsor
Ballot voting pool closed on 17 July with 180 voters.
The
Sponsor Ballot opened on 27 July 2011 and closed on 28
August. The first recirculation of P802.15.4e opened on 14
October and closed on 24 October with the following results:
180 eligible people in this ballot group
166 votes received (92% response)
155 affirmative votes (98% affirmative)
3 negative votes with comments
0 negative votes without comments
8 abstention votes (4% abstention)
68 comments, 56 marked as "must be satisfied"
The
68 comments from Recirc-1 were resolved (see doc 15-11-0576-11).
The BRC voted to approve the resolutions. Draft P802.15.4e-D07
was edited as per the comment resolutions and revised to
P802.15.4e-D08. The revised draft is now in Recirc-2 and will
close on Monday, 7 November.

- Review the
results from the Sponsor Ballot Recirc-2
- Review & categorize comments and draft resolutions
- Approve comment resolutions and apply those resolutions to the draft
