Overview
The role of
IEEE 802.15 Low Energy Critical Infrastructure (LECIM) Task
Group 4k is to create a PHY amendment to 802.15.4 to
facilitate point to multi-thousands of points communications
for critical infrastructure monitoring devices. The
amendment addresses the application's user needs of minimal
network infrastructure, and enables the collection of
scheduled and event data from a large number of non-mains
powered end points that are widely dispersed, or are in
challenging propagation environments. To facilitate low
energy operation necessary for multi-year battery life, the
amendment minimizes network maintenance traffic and device
wake durations. In addition, the amendment addresses the
changing propagation and interference environments.

A Technical Guidance Document (15-11-0359-04) and a Call for Proposals
(15-11-0147-02) were drafted and approved at the May Interim session. These documents are necessary for the task group
to define a baseline for the development of the draft amendment.
The September session
acomplishments included hearing all final proposals and included a panel discussion across all proposals.
The final proposals were:

coexistence assurance document.
These calls, a general call and a channel model call, are being held on
Wednesdays at 6:00 a.m. pdt; call-in details are sent in the
reminders via the TG4k reflector.
Future Efforts
The
November session
objectives include hearing proposal change/merge presentations,
final panel discussion across all proposals, baseline discussion,
