Overview
The end work product of the IEEE 802.15 High Rate Task Group
4t is the generation of an amendment to 802.15.4 defining a physical layer
capable of supporting 2 Mb/s data rates, utilizing the 2400 - 2483.5 MHz
band, having backwards-compatibility to, and the same occupied bandwidth
as, the present 2450 MHz O-QPSK physical layer, and capable of simple
implementation.
Current
Status
TG4t
is awaiting the approval by RevCom, which is on
the agenda for their January 2017 call.
Future
Efforts
Upon
approval by RevCom and SA the draft will be

TG4t
Timeline
The
first meeting of 802.15 TG4t as a Task Group occurred at the January 2016
Interim Session in Atlanta. In this meeting TG4t developed a Technical
Guidance Document (TGD) in order to give guidance to the proposers on what
the proposals are expected to cover/contain.
At
the March 2016 Plenary Session in Macau TG4t heard proposals in response to
its call for proposals. One joint proposal was submitted, and it was
adopted as the baseline proposal by the TG.
The TG also approved Monique Brown as the Technical Editor.
A
doodle poll was conducted and Wed. (5-6pm Pacific) was selected as the
recurring weekly call day and time. Between the March and May sessions a
baseline draft was developed from the baseline proposal and supporting
documents. Internal TG, WG Tech Editor, and 802.15.4 Tech. Review Team
reviews were conducted in parallel on the baseline draft, prior to the May
2016 Interim Session. Comments from
these reviews were addressed in the conference calls leading up to the May
Interim Session.
At
the May Interim Session TG4t completed work on the baseline draft and
developed a coexistence assurance document.
At the closing WG Plenary the WG approved the start of the Letter
Ballot for TG4t.
The
1st Letter Ballot (LB 123), of “P802.15.4t Draft Standard for
Local and Metropolitan Area Networks - Part 15.4: Low-Rate Wireless
Personal Area Networks (WPANs) Amendment for a Higher Rate Physical (PHY)
Layer” (D01) closed on June 23rd.
The
ballot passed and 16 comments were submitted. Comment resolution began
prior to the July 2016 Sessions, continuing and concluding at the July 2016
sessions. The 802.15 WG approved the comment resolution database and for
the editor to make the changes to the draft as instructed in the comment

proceed to Sponsor Ballot on July 29th.

Standard for Local and Metropolitan Area Networks - Part 15.4: Low-Rate
Wireless Personal Area Networks (WPANs) Amendment for a Higher Rate
Physical (PHY) Layer” (D02) closed on August 14th.
The
ballot passed and 1 comment was submitted. The 802.15 TG4t BRC resolved the
1 comment and approved the comment resolution database and for the editor
to make the changes to the draft as instructed in the comment resolution
database.
The
2nd Recirculation Letter Ballot (LB 128), of “P802.15.4t Draft
Standard for Local and Metropolitan Area Networks - Part 15.4: Low-Rate
Wireless Personal Area Networks (WPANs) Amendment for a Higher Rate
Physical (PHY) Layer” (D03) closed on September 4th.
The
ballot passed and 3 comment were submitted – all editorial (which were

Networks (WPANs) Amendment for a Higher Rate Physical (PHY) Layer” (D04)
closed on October 8th. The ballot passed with 98% Approval and
25 comments being submitted.
The
1st Recirculation Sponsor Ballot, of “P802.15.4t Draft Standard for Local and

closed on November 7th. The ballot passed with 98% Approval and
5 comments being submitted.
The
2nd Recirculation Sponsor Ballot, of “P802.15.4t Draft Standard
