stds-802-16-mobile: Differences between 802.16 SG and EC-SG mobility PARs

Hi,

I address this e-mail to both Mobility Study Groups, as we have
to clarify together the differences between our PARs, in order
to help EC to make a decision. Should be clear that the
purpose is not to show which PAR is more attractive, but to
better define the actual PAR targets.

I see the main differences between the 2 PARs as being:

1. The targeted radio bandwidth:

- EC SG: 1.25MHz, up to 5MHz

- 802.16 SG: 3-28MHz

2. Targeted applications

- EC SG: user mobile device

- 802.16 SG: user mobile device and mobile feeding.

802.16 has mobile feeding capabilities due to the larger radio BW.

3. max. 250km/h issue:

- EC SG: user mobile device

- 802.16: train mobile feeding; inside the train can be anything,
    including WLANs.

I propose to work together, in order to have, before the November
meeting, a clear idea of how can we improve the PAR texts.
This e-mail just start the process. Please comment.

Regards,

Marianna
