Dave,
The hosting financial summary that I presented to the 802.16 closing plenary in Ottawa was wrong because the hotel had not included some of the charges when they told me the total sum that morning. Still, the final hotel bill was some USD 4000 lower than originally estimated because, due to the high-occupancy in the block of guestrooms during the week, the hotel did not charge us for the use of the meeting rooms, even though the price of the guestrooms was much lower that the usual rates (I was able to get the Nortel Networks corporate rate for the guestrooms). Everything considered, the balance for 802.16 was only USD 8814.94 and not USD 11193 as I reported at the closing plenary in Ottawa. Thus the final profit for 802.16 was only about 39% of the registration fee. Sorry about that. I'm currently traveling in Europe, when I get back to the office I will send to Roger the detailed financials (he should already have the cheque).
I see that the registration fee for the meeting in Orlando includes breakfast and lunches. The meeting in Ottawa only included continental breakfast. That could be the reason for the higher registration fee in Orlando.
Regards,
Jose

The proposed registration fee of $250 / $300 seems unusually expensive for
an Interim Meeting. Is this correct ? We usually see $150 with no
preregistration discount/ surcharge. Jose's meeting in Ottawa was $150 US
(approx) and you still made 100% profit.

It's time to start planning your attendance at IEEE 802.16 Session
#13 (14-18 May 2001 at the Radisson Hotel Orlando in Orlando,
Florida, USA). The other 802 wireless Working Groups (802.11 and
802.15) will be joining us, as will the new 802.17 Resilient Packet
Ring Working Group. The meeting will be organized by Face To Face
Events, who organize the 802 Plenary sessions. There is currently no
host, but we are looking for one or more to sponsor a social event,
so let me know if you are interested.
Like our typical interim sessions, this one will run from 1 pm on
Monday until noon on Friday. It's possible that some Task Groups or
ad hoc committees may choose to meet on Monday morning, but those
meetings will not be counted toward session participation.
For basic logistics, including hotel reservations info, see:
http://ieee802.org/16/meetings/mtg13
I encourage you to make your hotel reservations soon. The hotel
reservation deadline is 16 April.
The registration details are not yet final. The plan is for a fee of
$300, or $250 if preregistered by Wednesday 2 May. This fee will
include daily breakfasts and lunches. I'll send a note when
registration is turned on.
Regards,
Roger
