There are two pieces of news:
(1) The Marriott has set up a waiting list.
(2) Registration is scheduled to open on June 8.

IEEE 802: Meeting Information Update Memo - 1st Announcement

SUBJ: Re: IEEE 802 LMSC Plenary Meeting - July 8-13, 2001
Important information for all IEEE 802 attendees:
a) The Portland Marriott Downtown is the site for the July 2001
IEEE 802 Plenary Meeting. Our IEEE 802 room block is now ALMOST SOLD
OUT. Please call the Portland Marriott Downtown directly at: (503)
226-7600 to make your reservations as soon as possible. When the
hotel is sold out, you should request to be put on the IEEE 802
WAIT-LIST. Our group has many late cancellations, and the hotel will
contact you when a room becomes available. You should also call the
hotel during the 2 weeks prior to the start of the Plenary Meeting to
check status of your reservation request. The IEEE 802 group rates
are $131/night single and $145/night double/twin occupancy plus
applicable taxes. Reservations may be canceled without penalty if
you call at least 48-hours before 6pm of arrival date.
b) We are arranging for overflow hotel accommodations and will
be posting information on the best alternatives once the Marriott
reaches a sold-out status.
c) The Portland Marriott Downtown is located 12 miles from
Portland International Airport (PDX). Gray Line shuttle to the hotel
is available every 45 minutes and costs $15 per person each way.
Reservations are not required. Hotel self-parking for in-house
guests is currently $16 per night or $4 per hour. Other public
parking is available behind the hotel.
d) The IEEE 802 Opening Plenary will begin Monday, July 9th at
11:00am and the 802 Working Group Meetings begin at 1:00pm. Please
note: Some of the 802 Working Groups now have scheduled meetings for
Friday, July 13,, 2001. Please visit the Working Group web sites for
their detailed agendas. The closing 802 Executive Committee meeting
is now scheduled from 4 to 8pm on Friday, July 13, 2001.
e) Please note that the new IEEE 802 Secure Web Registration
service will become available on June 8, 2001. More information on
this will be sent next week. The Pre-Registration Deadline is still
Wednesday, June 27, 2001 to save $50 !!! For further information on
