stds-802-16: important(!) new details on venue for Session #22
As previously planned, IEEE 802.16's Session #22
<http://ieee802.org/16/meetings/mtg22> will be held on 11-14 November
2002 in Koloa (on the island of Kauai) in Hawaii, USA, along with the
IEEE 802 Plenary Session <http://ieee802.org/meeting>. 802.16 will
start with its Opening Plenary at 1 pm on Monday and finish with a
Closing Plenary on Thursday night.
The NEWS is that the meeting will take place at the Hyatt Regency
Kauai <http://www.kauai.hyatt.com>. The meeting had been earlier
announced as tentatively planned for the Sheraton Kauai Resort. Under
the revised plan, 802.16 will be meeting along with the other 802
wireless groups in the Hyatt. The 802.1 and 802.3 Working Groups will
meet at the Sheraton.
The two hotels are not within easy walking distance. They will be
linked by an 802 shuttle, and parking at both hotels is free.

SUBJ: IEEE 802.1 & 802.3 WG Meetings will be at the Sheraton Resort Kauai
Important information for all 802.1 & 802.3 Working Group attendees:
a) This meeting will again be a Split-Meeting due to our continued
high attendance. All 802.1 & 802.3 WG meetings will be held at the
Sheraton Resort Kauai, so if you are planning to attend 802.1 or
802.3 and are currently booked at the Hyatt, you may wish to consider
switching your hotel reservation. We have arranged for a room block
at the Sheraton Resort with a discounted IEEE 802 Group room rate
(code: IEEE 802): Garden Room $165.00(US) or Deluxe Ocean Front Room
$215.00(US) + tax per night for single or double/twin occupancy.
Cancellations made at least 72 hours prior to 6 pm the date of
arrival will incur no penalty. If you do need to cancel, make sure
you get a cancellation confirmation number. The cut off date for
reservations at the Sheraton is October 10, 2002. The Sheraton Resort
is located down the road from the Hyatt, but it is too far for easy
walking back & forth (there will be a shuttle & daily parking for
both hotels is free).

b) It is expected that rooms will become available in the next few
days at the Hyatt Regency Kauai due to the information above. If you
have not done so yet, or if you have made reservations at another
property, please contact the Hyatt Regency Kauai and try to make your
room reservation there. It is possible that the hotel mayl still be
full and need to put your name on the IEEE 802 Waitlist. We expect
that most IEEE 802 attendees with their name on the waitlist will get
into the Hyatt. The reservations cut off date for the Hyatt Regency
Kauai is October 12, 2002.
