stds-802-16: approval of IEEE Standard 802.16c-2002!
At its meeting today, the IEEE-SA Standards Board met today and
approved, as an IEEE Standard, P802.16c/D4 ("Amendment to IEEE
Standard for Local and Metropolitan Area Networks - Part 16: Air
Interface for Fixed Broadband Wireless Access Systems - Detailed
System Profiles for 10-66 GHz").
Congratulations to Ken Stanwood (Task Group Chair) and Carl Eklund
(Editor)! This was a major piece of technical work, including 90
pages, with corrections to the base standard in addition to the
system profiles.
The project was completed on an efficient schedule. The PAR was
approved only seven months ago, and the final draft was submitted to
RevCom more than three months before the target date. To see how this
was done, take a look at the schedule
<http://ieee802.org/16/tgc/schedule.html>.
We are working with IEEE-SA to have IEEE Standard 802.16c-2002
published by 9 January 2003. In the meantime, the approved draft is
still for sale in the IEEE catalog at

Cheers!
Roger
