stds-802-16: Session #33 site selection
Dear IEEE 802.16 Participants:
At the Closing Plenary of Session #30 next month, I will be
scheduling agenda time to select a site for Session #33 in September
2004.
We discussed this issue initially at Session #29. As noted in the
session minutes
<http://ieee802.org/16/docs/04/80216-04_05.pdf>,
there was little support for joining an 802.11/802.15 interim in
either of the two proposed cities: Berlin or Sydney. The
802.11/802.15 interim is now planned for Berlin on the week of Sept
13. I suggest that, if we meet separately, we avoid those dates. I
believe that the week of Sept 6 would be best. The week of Sept 20
could also work.
In Vancouver, we asked for suggestions from the membership regarding
possible venues. The following suggestions were made:
* Busan, Korea (suggested by Panyuh Joo)
* Montreal, Canada (suggested by Frank Draper)
* London, UK (suggested by David Castelow)
* Tokyo, Japan (suggested by Aditya Agrawal)
If you are interested in hosting Session #33, you should prepare a
proposal, as detailed in Clause 10 ("Site Selection") of the IEEE
802.16 Interim Session Guidelines:
Those guidelines will also provide you with the information you need
to plan a session. Note that the attendance figures in the guidelines
are a bit low based on recent attendance; we had 130 people in
Vancouver. Some of the other details may also be a bit out of date.
Please feel free to contact me if you need any more information. I'll
be happy to answer questions.
Regards,
Roger
