Re: [STDS-802-16] IEEE 802 PARs under consideration in July
I have a comment for IEEE 802.16e PAR modification, an opinion I also
expressed in an e-mail I sent in the past. IMHO backwards compatibilty
should not be compromised. It is important to keep one foot on the ground,
so the speak, namely if one implements the scaleable OFDMA mode it has to be
fully compatible with 2k BS and the same applies to OFDM. There was never
an intention to invent a new mode in 802.16e, that won't be fully
compatible with at least one of the existing ones. Accepting the changes
would make the other modes practically obsolete and jeopardize the efforts
of the current implementors. As it stands now, the PAR is self cotradictory.
Going over the Shenzen minutes, I found that only a small number of
participants approved the proposed modificfation. I would appreciate it if
the issue is re-discussed.
Thanks, and enjoy a fruitful meeting in Portland
