[STDS-802-16] overhead at TC sublayer

Hi,

I am beginner to 802.16 and I'd need some direction in understanding the TC
sublayer in WirelessMAN-SC PHY.
The TC sublayer PDU (1 byte pointer included) should "fit into the proper
codeword size". If I understand
correctly, the codeword size (the K parameter for the RS code) can be as
low as 6 bytes,
out of which 1 byte is overhead (the pointer byte).

My questions are:
1. What factors (besides desire to minimize overhead) determine what K
value to use from the 6 - 255 byte range ?
2. Is the burst allocation algorithm in the BS tasked to ensure it
allocates bursts that are larger than one codeword (since a
burst must contain a whole number of codewords) ? Would the granularity of
burst allocation then lead to a preference for smaller K ?

Thank you very much,
Marius
