Re: [STDS-802-16] [SNMP-AH] SNMP Solution Set Ad-hoc group

The structure of 16i MIB was discussed at the ad-hoc meeting. Krzysztof presented “802.16i SNMP ad-hoc strategy options” that described several options of 16i MIB structure that take into account the following factors:

·       Reuse existing 16f MIB

·       Support mobility features as recommended in 16e

·       Include corrigendum fixes to 16f MIB

·       Association with the IRP models

The recommendation is to adopt option 2 and option B that segment 16i MIB into 3 or more MIB modules, such as

·       Interface MIB 1: include objects common to 802.16-2004 and 802.16e-2005, and fixes to wmanIfMib in 802.16f. Process defined in RFC2578 will be followed to extend wmanIfMib.

·       Interface MIB 2: include mobility objects defined in 802.16e-2005.

·       Device MIB: include fixes to wmanDevMib in 802.16f.

Multiple IRP models can be created to map to Interface MIB 1 &, 2, Device MIB, …..

The members who were present at the ad-hoc meeting accepted the above recommendation, as it segments 16i MIB into several smaller MIB modules that are easier to manage, implement, and review (good portion of 16f MIB are intact in this approach).

Next step:

·       Krzysztof and interested ad-hoc members will create a contribution to the San Diego meeting to detail the changes to 802.16i draft that supports the above recommendation.

“802.16i SNMP ad-hoc strategy options” presentation can be downloaded from the WirelessMan Temp directory.

Your comments and feedback to the recommendation are welcome. A follow-up meeting will be scheduled on 06/14 07:00-08:00 (PST) for additional discussions.

Thanks for those who had expressed interest in participation. If you have not responded, and would like to join this Ad-hoc group, please let me know.

I have sent out the kick-off meeting invitation to the interested participants early in the week, but was told I needed to post the ad-hoc meeting information on STDS-802-16@listserv.ieee.org reflector.

There is a change to the schedule, since the original proposed date was in conflict with MMR ad-hoc meetings.

The 1st conference call meeting is scheduled at next Wednesday (05/31) at 07:00 – 08:00 (Pacific Time). This schedule was set by taking into account the members of this diversify team from multiple continents.

Here is the preliminary agenda of the meeting. The bridge info will be provided later.

·                 Introduction

·                 Mobile MIB architectures (e.g. 16f – 16i evolution, WiMAX NWG, …)

·                 Scope

·         Identify work items / contributions (e.g. statistics, handoff / mobility support, ….)

·         Contributors

·         Timeline

·                 Opens
