Re: [STDS-802-16] [MMR-AH-UM] RE: A new usage model

Dear Jerry and all.

I agree with you that it may be just a redefinition of RS.

I like to clarify something based on your comments.
1). The purpose of the wired access of RS is to enlarge the capacity.

2) The wired access at the RS may be just a common internet access point
like the cabel model we used at home instead of a high speed cable connected
     the core network.

3) The scheduling of wireless communication between RS<-->SS, RS<-->BS is
      still controlled by the BS.

4) The real-time traffic may still be sent over the wireless link. However, for those
delay insensitive traffics, they may be sent over the wired link under BS's control.

5) An example: assuming a SS is two hop away from BS, when it want to send
traffic of Best Effort type to BS. It may send a bandwdith request to RS and
eventually reaches the BS. When BS doing the scheduling, it only allocates slots for
the SS sending traffic to RS and notfies the RS to forward the data over the
     wired link to BS.

In our opnion, the wired access can really help in improving the cell capacity without
involving too much complicated designing work.

Best regards.

Dear Wang Haiguang,

I think that your proposal for a wired RS is not really a new usage
model, but is a redefinition of the meaning of an RS. In my opinion this
type of proposal is outside the scope of the usage model ad hoc.

From a technical standpoint, its not clear to me what the function of a
wired RS would be. If it is connected to the core network via a wired
connection then it seems to be performing the functions of a BS.

Jerry Sydir

Dear Ad Hoc Participants,

I'm forwarding that attached email from Wang Haiguang to the list. I've
uploaded the slides that attached to that email to the following

Dear Jerry,

We like to proposal a new usage model named "Wired RS".
However, we cannot send in with attached slides.

So can you please help us to send the slides to
the mailing list for discussion?

Best regards.

Wang Haiguang
