Re: [STDS-802-16] IEEE Standard 802.16e based first MIMO products certified by the WiMAX Forum

no, Wave2/Phase 2 is for Rel 1.0 (Cor2D3, with some Cor2D4 attributes and ND&S Rev2 attributes), and yes it is performed in stages all the way up to mid 2009.

I think that Wave2/Phase 2 must be referring to Rel 1.5 certification. It is an odd comment, however, since I don't think that any of us refer to this as 'phase 2'.

Hi Jose et al,

Do you know if this certification was for the full Wave 2 Phase 2 feature set?

I read in a press article that Ron Resnick said in Amsterdam,
"Certification of Wave-2 Phase-2 2.5GHz products is expected to start mid-2009"
http://www.telecoms.com/itmgcontent/tcoms/news/articles/20017544088.html

Can anyone explain this?

Best Regards,

Dear 802.16 friends,

The WiMAX Forum has certified the first IEEE Standard 802.16e based MIMO products for 2.5GHZ bands. See the news release below.

Thanks to all of you who contributed to the IEEE 802.16 standards over the years. I think this surely will be regarded as an inflection point in the wireless broadband industry. It has been a lot of hard work by the IEEE 802.16 WG creating the world's first OFDMA+MIMO standard and then by the WiMAX Forum to get the certification process done to enable the products to get to market. It did take a while to get here, but it is surely sweet :)

Heart felt congratulations to all our friends at the WiMAX Forum on this momentous occasion! All their hard work has come to fruition. Also wishing them all the success going forward!

If you want to change the world, this is how we do it. One step at a time. Or in 802.16 WG terms we might say, "one comment" at a time. Enjoy the moment!

thanks & best regards,
jose
