Re: [STDS-802-16] results of Friday's 802 EC meeting
Dear Roger, 802.16 members,
Thank you for your kind and intensive support for the Relay TG activity
in Denver, last week. As Roger reported, we could gain the EC's
conditional approval towards the sponsor ballot. I believe this
wouldn't happen without your help, especially those who flipped their
votes to make this happen. I believe that the EC vote result of 16/0/0
indicates we have gained a lot of good progress after the last March EC
session.
I have heard that the Relay TG editors worked hard over the last weekend
and the revised draft will be ready shortly to go for the next step.
As the schedule is tight towards the coming Kobe session, your further
support over the Confirmation and Sponsor ballots would be much appreciated.
Thanks again and best regards,
Mitsuo

Dear 802.16 Fans,
The 802 EC, on Friday 18 July, approved all of the motions that 802.16
put forward. It also approved the liaison statements that were developed
in 802.16 and endorsed by the 802.18 TAG. I've posted a table of results:
In summary, the outcome was a great example of dligence, hard work, and
consensus building all-around:
*P802.16Rev2 has been granted conditional approval to move to Sponsor
Ballot, following a final 15-day confirmation ballot in the Working
Group. The WG Letter Ballot results stand at 284 Approve, with 1
Disapprove. The single remaining Disapprove voter could not be reached
for a response. Congratulations to the Maintenance TG, and thanks to
Chair Jonathan Labs for an outstanding effort. Thanks also to other
members - including John Humbert, Jose Puthenkulam, and Phillip Barber,
among others - who helped to contact the voters and prepare the
documentation.
*P802.16j has also been granted conditional approval to move to Sponsor
Ballot, following a final 15-day confirmation ballot in the Working
Group. The WG Letter Ballot closed with 206 Approve and no unresolved
Disapprove comments. Congratulations to the License-Exempt TG, and
thanks to Chair Mitsuo Nohara for an outstanding effort. Thanks also to
other members - including Mike Hart, Jung Je Son, and Peiying Zhu - who
helped to contact the voters and prepare the documentation.
*P802.16h has been granted unconditional approval to move to Sponsor
Ballot. The WG Letter Ballot results stand at 287 Approve, with only 1
member voting Disapprove with comment. Congratulations to the Relay TG,
and thanks to Chair Mariana Goldhamer and the rest of the TG for an
outstanding effort. The 802 EC also agreed to forward a request for a
one-year PAR extension in case Sponsor Ballot cannot be concluded before
the current PAR expires.
The five liaison statements - four to ITU and one to the ECC - that were
approved by the 802 EC were all approved by the 802 EC. Congratulations
and thanks to the ITU Liaison Group, chaired by José Costa.
We will be following up to ensure that all of the documentation moves
forward as authorized.
Roger
