All, There were 4 key activities for 802.19 this week. 802.15.3c (60 GHz) has been finishing up a coexistence assurance
document and submitted it to 802.15. There is some question as to whether
one was required (we are looking up the 5 criteria document that went with the
PAR but haven’t found it yet. There was further consideration of the 802.16h coexistence
assurance document. That work is now closed out and accepted by 802.19. 802.15.4g (meter reading) is just started a coexistence
assurance document. There was a joint meeting with 802.19 to kick the
process off. The fourth item was interesting. The TV Whitespace
ECSG voted to recommend further consideration of TV Whitespace coexistence work
be moved to 802.19, with a caveat that voting on that issue be open to all
participants (not just to 802.19 members). 802.19 considered this
possibility and agreed that they would be willing to accept that work with the
voting rules desired. One concern that has been expressed is that while
the ECSG and 802.19, might agree to these voting rules, the process might be in
violation of the IEEE 802 P&P. So a study group may be formed in
802.19 on this topic to facilitate the voting rules desired. Regards, Mat Matthew
