The IEEE 802.16 Working Group met in its Session #61 on 4-7 May 2009 in Cairo, Egypt. The IEEE 802.16 Session #61 Report summarizes the outcomes: <http://ieee802.org/16/meetings/mtg61/report.html>. The report includes the important news of the approval of two new IEEE standards: *IEEE Std 802.16-2009, a new revision of IEEE Std 802.16, supersedes the pre-existing version of IEEE Std 802.16 (namely, IEEE Std 802.16-2004 as amended by IEEE 802.16e, IEEE 802.16f, and IEEE 802.16g). *IEEE Std 802.16j (Multihop Relay Specification) is a new amendment to IEEE Std 802.16-2009. Planning is underway for Session #62, #63, and the exceptional Session #63.5. For your own travel planning, please take note: Session #62 will take place on 13-16 July 2009 in San Francisco, California, USA. This will be an IEEE 802 LMSC Plenary Session. Pre-registration is open until 26 June. Hotel reservations should be made as soon as possible to ensure a room at the hotel of your choice. The draft meeting schedule for the session is posted. NOTICE: Two Hyatt hotels are available for booking. All meetings are scheduled at the Hyatt Regency San Francisco (Embarcadero Center). Session #63 will take place on 31 August - 3 September 2009 in Jeju, Korea. This will be an Interim Session of the Working Group. The session is hosted by Hokyu Choi, with Samsung as Corporate Host. Registration, hotel, and visa information are not yet available. NOTE: The session will begin Monday morning and close on Thursday afternoon in time for those wishing to catch nonstop flights to ICN (5:20pm), NRT (6:10pm) and KIX (6:50pm). Session #63.5 is an exceptional Interim Session of the Working Group on 21-24 September 2009 in Waikoloa, Hawaii, USA. The session will be co-located with sessions of other IEEE 802 wireless-oriented WGs and TAGs. NOTE: Registration, hotel, and visa information are now available.
