We also use CIBT for visas and when we sent them my application citing
a conference they told us to change everything to a request for a 1 yr Business
Visa. That’s the last I’ve heard of it. From: Roger B. Marks
[mailto:r.b.marks@ieee.org] Dan, My visa agent also told me that a Conference Visa is
impossible. He suggested that I apply for a Business Visa. He also said that the invitation letter I received will not
be accepted because it does not specify the duration of the visa. I went back
and looked up the requirements for the letter. It says: Sponsor Letter From Organization in India: Include a
letter from the sponsoring organization in India on company letterhead
indicating the nature of applicant's business, probable duration of stay, the validity of visa applied for (1 Year, 5 Year or 10
Year), places and organizations to be visited, and a guarantee to meet
maintenance expenses. I'll ask the hosts to send me an updated letter. Perhaps
they'll be able to assist others who are having the same difficulty. Roger On 2010/04/19, at 09:11 AM, Gal, Dan (Dan) wrote:
Klutto, Just to let you know that I am not likely to be able to get a visa
to India anytime soon. The company that handles our passport and visa services
– CIBT – has told me that neither a business visa, nor a conference visa would
be granted to me, because your invitation letter is to a Conference and I (or
anyone else for that matter) cannot comply with the Indian Government
requirements as listed in the attached document (items 8 through 11). Can you please share my concern with other folks and find out how
others handles the visa issue? I also have an issue with my Israeli Birth Certificate. The Indian
government requires an authenticated document. I don’t think I can do that
anytime soon. Anyway, if all else fails, you may want to stop my meeting fee
payment transaction, if it has not gone through already. Best regards, Dan. From: Klutto Milleth
