Re: [STDS-802-16] Jim Carlo

Just to echo Roger and Dan, I took a look of IEEE Global History Network for Jim's bio, there is a sentence that I can't agree more from the memory with Jim, so I decided to put it here for those whom might view helpful...

" .....Dr. Carlo’s success stems from a determination to drive technical consensus in a fair, open, honest, ethical and even-handed approach......"

quoted from http://www.ieeeghn.org/wiki/index.php/James_T._Carlo

For some of us, whom were new and fresh to his/her standard experience, Jim has been a guilding light in those tough debates or voting dramas. He is always an honest voice on the floor when the group were simply lost or didn't know what is right to do. Jim seems to share his wisdom in the way that people could just trust him and listen to his suggestion. It has been a great memory to know Dr. Carlo, worked with him, heard his opinions.  Yes, he will be missed !!!

What a sad news!

Jim was such a gentleman and a true standards development pro; We all have learned so much from him.

I had the good fortune to work with Jim for a few years in WiMAX Forum as well, where he shined as a great facilitator and solutions-oriented leader.

He will be missed very much! May he rest in peace.

Dear 802.16,

I'm sorry to report the death of Jim Carlo. Jim was a great friend, a great man, and a big part of the success 802.16. Jim was the Chair of the IEEE 802 Executive Committee when I first became interested in standards. He warmly welcomed 802.16 into the fold and was a tremendous mentor to me in getting the Working Group launched. Later, after moving on to other leadership roles in IEEE Standards (including President of the IEEE-SA), Jim became active as a participant in the 802.16 Working Group, holding a membership from 2005-2009.

Jim was a brilliant standardization builder, leader, and innovator. He was also as nice and warm a guy as you'll ever meet. I salute him.

Roger

Dear EC Members,

It is with a heavy heart I must let you know I just found out late tonight Jim Carlo passed away.  I recently spoke to him--he was not doing to well, but hanging in there as best he could in his battle with cancer.  For those of you that new him, he was a great representative of 802 and the Standards Association, and a mentor to me.  I will miss him.  Rest in peace James T. Carlo--the 802 community shall mourn for you.

Sadly,

--Paul

Dear Token Ringers,
This is a sad email.  I just heard from Muffy Carlo that Jim Carlo has passed away.  I spoke with Jim shortly before Christmas after hearing from Muffy that he had been battling cancer for two years.  He was in good spirits, but obviously in deteriorating health.
I thoroughly enjoyed working closely with him for many years and will miss him.
I wanted to let those of you that knew him and worked with him to know and to spread the word to others that would want to know.
Bob Love
