Re: [STDS-802-16] update on IEEE-SA status and services

Note that this message is a day old. The specific problem seems to have been repaired.

Most of the other issues have been resolved as well. For example, as you can see, the reflector seems to be working again!

Folks,

Due to ongoing effects of last week's storm, some IEEE network services are not functioning.

Due to a DNS issue, the URL "ieee802.org" is not resolving properly. I recommend that you use "http://wirelessman.org", which is the normal equivalent of "http://ieee802.org/16".

You can reach the ieee802 web site at:

and the other groups by adding a WG tag. For example, the 802.11 page is:

Dear IEEE-SA Community,

The East Coast Tri-State area experienced a devastating storm earlier this week. The storm has impacted the IEEE family and IEEE operations.  The IEEE has enacted its Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery Plan and the professional staff team is working around the clock in challenging circumstances (e.g., major power outages and fuel shortage) to minimize impact on IEEE business and its constituency.

Until further notice, the 445 Hoes Lane building is closed due to the lack of power. The 501 Hoes Lane building has power and is being utilized as a "command center" for business oversight, including the management of the IEEE Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery Plan.

With the IEEE Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery Plan enacted, some systems are being taken offline and some relocated to areas outside of the storm affected area. While this plan is being implemented, you may see periods of application outages possibly for extended periods of time.

The following SA services will be taken offline until further notice:
-Registration Authority Processing (RAC)
-GEOSS and the GEOSS Registry
-Standards Dictionary Online
-SADB (Standards Database)
-Web Search from Standards
-RT Ticketing (for Tech Admin and Solutions Support)

The following SA Services will be relocated access may be intermittent until the relocation efforts are complete:
-Standards.ieee.org (IEEE-SA main web site)
-Grouper (IEEE-SA Working Group web area)
-myProject (SA Governance System)
-Attendance Tool (IMAT)
-Mentor (document management system)

The following SA services will not be affected:
-IEEE-SA Central Desktop collaboration application
-ISTO WorkSpace Application

IEEE Xplore, the IEEE.org site and our mail services have been moved to their failover site and will be functional.

The upcoming IEEE Board of Directors meetings next week will be reduced to a minimum to address very urgent, time critical issues and will be concentrated to 2 days next week. A message from IEEE President will be released soon to those constituents.

Due to the current challenges resulting from the storm, coupled with potential bad weather for mid-next week, we advise not traveling to New Jersey.

The IEEE-SA Board series scheduled for later this month into early December is not impacted at this time.

We greatly appreciate your understanding during this trying time.
