IEEE 802.16's Session #39 was held 12-15 September 2005 in Taipei, Taiwan. The session was supported by Member Hosts Arthur Wang and Stanley Wang and by institutional host ITRI and corporate co-host CyberTAN Technology. The decision to select this site was made on 19 November 2004 based on the host's site selection proposal.

The session opened at 1 pm on Monday afternoon and ended on Thursday night. The meeting schedule for the week is available.
Registration
On-line registration is closed. The registration fee was NTD8,600 (~US$277) for those registering by the deadline of 12 August 2005. Afterwards, the fee climbed to NTD9,600 (~US$310). The fee is payable on-site at the hotel.

Currency
The national currency of Taiwan is New Taiwan Dollar (NTD). The exchange rate to one US dollar varies from approximately NTD30 to NTD32 and you can check the current exchange rate here. Airlines, department stores, hotels and most restaurants accept international credit cards including VISA, American Express, Diners Club, JCB, and Master Card, etc.
Climate
Taipei's average lowest temperature for the coldest month, January, is 15.8 oC and highest for the hottest month, July, is 29.3 C. The average temperature in September is between 28 and 29 C. The sunshine during noon hours from 11:00 a.m. to 14:00 p.m. could cause sunburn while a thunder shower in the afternoon to cool down the heat is common in Taipei city. Visitors could wear light-weight clothing during the month.
Electric Supply
Taiwan's electricity is supplied at 110V 60Hz, the same as in the U.S. Most electrical outlets are two-pronged, with small prongs and no earth. Appliances from with different specifications will need an adapter or a transformer.
