IEEE 802.16 Task Group e: Mobility
See below for a history of the IEEE 802.16 Mobile Wireless MAN Study Group that developed the Project Authorization Request for Project 802.16e.
IEEE 802.16 Mobile Wireless MAN Study Group
July-November 2002
On 12 July 2002, the IEEE Working Group 802.16 on Broadband Wireless
Access initiated (with the later approval of the IEEE 802 LMSC Sponsor
Executive Committee) the IEEE 802.16 Mobile Wireless MAN Study Group.
The Study Group was chartered to operate through 15 November 2002. This
was a successor to the 802.16 Mobile Broadband Wireless Access Study
Group (March-July 2002).
The Study Group led the development of Project Authorization Request
(PAR) 802.16e
for Combined Fixed and Mobile Operation in Licensed Bands. The PAR was
forwarded by the Study Group on 14 November 2002, by the IEEE 802.16
Working Group on 14 November 2002, and by the IEEE 802 Executive
Committee on 15 November 2002. On 11 December 2002, it was then approved
by the IEEE-SA Standards Board, thereby authorizing the project.
