N-WEST: A New National Resource for LMDS

April 9, 1998

The National Wireless Electronic Systems Testbed is a new measurements and standards resource for the LMDS industry. N-WEST's mission is to promote the development of the industry by creating and carrying out tests and measurements at the system and component levels. N-WEST aims to promote sound and rational operational standards and specifications based on open technical results. N-WEST invites the participation of service providers, system integrators, and component manufacturers.

After many private discussions with industry, N-WEST is ready to begin its entry into the public arena. We've done so by launching a (web site) and sending out this mailing to interested parties. Please feel free to circulate this note to your colleagues. Let me know if you'd like to be added to, or removed from, the N-WEST mailing list.

You can expect to hear more about N-WEST in the coming weeks and months. At the same time, we need feedback from you to develop our plans. We expect to finalize our scope, procedures, and plans at our kickoff meeting on August 9, 1998 in Colorado Springs, CO, in conjunction with the 1998 IEEE Radio and Wireless Conference (RAWCON'98).

N-WEST needs your participation in order to help us build a strong national LMDS industry. Please let us know if you are interested in participating and how we can meet your needs. Check the web site for detailed developments.

I look forward to hearing from you!

Roger
