RE: [RPRWG] Ethertypes for circuit emulation

Vinay,

EtherTypes are issued by the IEEE Registration Authority. You
can find more information, plus an application form, at
http://standards.ieee.org/regauth/ethertype/index.html.

I have not heard of an EtherType being issued specifically
for circuit emulation. On the other hand, EtherTypes are
issued to organizations, and the EtherType list does not
indicate what an organization is using a given EtherType
for.

Best regards,

- Tom A.

Subject: [RPRWG] Ethertypes for circuit emulation

Hi folks,

I was wondering if anybody is aware of ethertype for circuit emulation
for TDM traffic? Is there such a type? I looked in the iana.org website
but could not find any reference to ethertypes for circuit emulation. I
know that the good folks in PWE3 are working on something similar, but
was curious if anyone is aware of.

BTW, what is the common procedure for applying for a special ethertype?
Who makes the request? Perhaps DVJ can answer this...

Thanks
Vinay
