At their December meeting the IEEE standards board approved

P802.17a (C/LM) Standard for Information Technology – Telecommunications and
Information Exchange Between Systems - Local and Metropolitan Area Networks –
Common Specifications - Part 3: Media Access Control (MAC) Bridges
Recommendation: Approve new PAR until December 2006, changing the purpose as follows:

"The purpose is to amend the 802.1D transparent bridge standard recognition of the
802.17 Media Access Control (MAC)."
