IEEE 802.19 TAG,
Next week in Orlando there will be a joint meeting of 802.11y, 802.16h and 802.19. The purpose is to discuss coexistence in the 3650 MHz frequency band. The meeting is on Tuesday morning 9-10 AM. I encourage TAG members to attend.

In response to the January letter from the 802.16 WG to the 802.11 WG <http://ieee802.org/16/liaison/docs/L80216-07_002.pdf>, a joint meeting has been arranged to include the 802.16 LE TG along with 802.11's TGy and 802.19. The meeting will take place on 13 March from 9-10 am. The meeting is set to discuss simulation
of 802.16/802.11 coexistence in the US 3650-3700 MHz band, which is the target
of P802.11y. Simulation in other bands is also of interest but is not the focus
of this meeting. "Whenever we evaluate coexistence of two wireless systems we begin by agreeing to the modeling assumptions. Generally once everyone agrees on the assumptions most of the engineers are quite capable of implementing the simulation. The real issue is agreeing on the modeling assumptions. And since this we have a limited time with members of 802.11 and 802.16 in the same room we should use that time wisely to make sure we agree. The 802.11 engineers are not experts in 802.16 and visa versa. So we should make sure we all have a good handle on the modeling of both systems so we get results that are reasonable."
I would like to encourage the 802.16 membership to participate in this meeting by offering to make a presentation.
If you wish to make a presentation, please notify both Mariana Goldhamer and me as soon as possible so we can work with 802.11 and 802.19 on the agenda.
Regards,
Roger |
