Reminder.   Deadline for submissions of proposals for 15.4q is rapidly approaching.  Please submit your proposals as soon as possible but no later than November 04, 2013 (23:59 UTC) in order to be considered for inclusion in the baseline draft and 1st ballot.

Call for Proposals

IEEE 802.15.4q TG is issuing a call for proposals. The scope of proposals is strictly limited to those described in the Project Authorization Request (PAR) document 15-12-0386-06-004q-ulp-par.pdf (https://mentor.ieee.org/802.15/dcn/12/15-12-0386-06-004q-ulp-par.pdf). Proposals must be submitted to the IEEE 802.15 document server and a notification must be emailed to the TG 4q chair, Dr. Shahriar Emami (Shahriar.e@xxxxxxxxxxx <mailto:Shahriar.e@xxxxxxxxxxx>) and TG4q reflector no later than November 04, 2013 (23:59 UTC) in order to be considered for inclusion in the baseline draft and 1st ballot. Proposers are requested to prepare proposal presentations which will be presented to TG4q members. Each proposal should be fully described in MS Office or pdf format. Power point can be used to present the proposals to the group.

Presentations and discussion of the proposals are scheduled at the November IEEE 802.15 Sessions, which is scheduled on November 10-15, 2013, Dallas, Tx, USA. Any questions should be directed to the TG4q Chair Dr. Shahriar Emami (Shahriar.e@xxxxxxxxxxx).

5.2.b. Scope of the project: This amendment defines an ultra low power (ULP) physical layer operating in sub 1 GHz and 2.4GHz license exempt bands supporting typical data rates up to 1 Mbps. This amendment also defines the necessary MAC
changes required for supporting the new ULP physical layer. The desired peak power consumption for the PHY should be
typically less than 15 mW.

5.5 Need for the Project: Emerging applications in sensor networks demand increasingly small form factor, low power
consumption and low cost solutions. From a power consumption perspective, this amendment addresses solutions making it
possible to achieve a battery life of several years when connected to coin cell batteries and/or making it possible to use
harvested energy sources while meeting the targeted data rates and continuing to support the small form factor, low cost
attributes of 802.15.4.
