Victor, We typically have liaisons from individual WGs be we can also have liaisons from 802, like the coexistence lessons learned liaison to 3GPP which was developed in 802.19, or liaisons to ITU which
are developed in 802.18. Yes, as described on Slide 2 this is liaisons to 3GPP on coexistence with 802 systems. It follows the model in 802.18 where people bring contributions into 802.18 they are worked there and then
the final approval is by the executive committee. So the process here will be similar. People will bring in contributions to 802.19 on material they want to include in a liaison to 3GPP. This might be as a result of reviewing a coexistence study
in 3GPP, for example. Then that would be discussed along with any other contributions in 802.19 and a draft liaison would be developed. That could happen during a meeting or could start on a conference call if someone had some material to review between
meetings. It would be approved at an 802.19 meeting, either an Interim or Plenary, and then forwarded to the EC for final approval. If we were at a Plenary session then the EC could vote on Friday afternoon. If we are at an Interim session, I would request
an EC email ballot after the session. Regards, Steve From: Victor Hou [mailto:vhou@xxxxxxxxxxxx] Hi Steve, What is the major difference between this process and a liaison in general that goes out from IEEEE 802? It seems like this process specifically covers a specific subject matter of liaisons, a specific target (3GPP), and that the liaison input gets worked/drafted/WG approved within 802.19?

All, The IEEE will consider future liaisons to 3GPP regarding coexistence of LAA and 802 systems. We will follow the following process (which I have reviewed with Paul Nikolich) for liaisons with 3GPP on this topic,
https://mentor.ieee.org/802.19/dcn/14/19-14-0089-00-0000-liaison-approval-process.pptx If anyone has a contribution they would like to make at the January Interim session please notify me. Please send me the name of the author, the title of the presentation, and an estimate of how much time you would like
on the agenda. Regards, Steve |
