Re: [802.19] Draft response available for review re: Cayman Islands: consultation on lower 6 GHz and WiGig for Wi-Fi

Dear colleagues,

Based on the discussion in the June 6th IEEE 802.18 teleconference call, the draft is updated and available for your review:
https://mentor.ieee.org/802.18/dcn/24/18-24-0055-04-0000-proposed-response-to-cayman-islands-ofreg-s-consultation-on-proposed-short-range-device-regulation.docx

It is expected that IEEE 802.18 may consider a motion to approve the draft and forward it to IEEE 802 LMSC for consideration.  If you have any comments or suggestions, please kindly let us know.

Thanks and Regards,
Edward

On 25 May 2024, Cayman Islands' administration, OfReg, launched a public consultation on a proposed framework for short range devices.  Of particular interest to us is that the administration proposes to allow lower 6 GHz (5925 MHz to 6425 MHz) and WiGig (57 GHz to 71 GHz) for Wi-Fi.  They also provided their rationale why they do not consider AFC and the upper 6 GHz for now.

For details, please visit:

The comment submission deadline is 27 June 2024.  If you would like IEEE 802 to submit a response, please bring a submission to IEEE 802.18 to review and consider approval no later than 13 June 2024.

Regards,
Edward
