[802.19] Self-Nomination for IEEE 802.19 Vice Chair at the March 2026 Election

Dear IEEE 802.19 Members,

With the IEEE 802.19 officer election approaching in March 2026, I am writing to formally announce my self-nomination for the Vice Chair position. I would be honored to earn your support and your vote.

Some of you may know me through my broader IEEE participation, particularly my coexistence work within IEEE 802.11 and participation in IEEE 802.15.4ab activities. I have been maintaining an active role in IEEE 802.18 RR-TAG through drafting regulatory consultation responses, most of which with coexistence focus in them. I am currently engaged in Joint Task Group efforts as an elected member as a part of the Narrow Band Coexistence collaboration between the Wi-Fi Alliance and the Bluetooth SIG. Across these venues, my focus has consistently been on practical, technically rigorous wireless coexistence solutions that enable spectrum sharing while protecting innovation across technologies.

Tuncer Baykas and Steve Shellhammer have been leading our group in an exemplary manner, and I would like to raise my hand to contribute further to the group’s continued success by serving in the second Vice Chair role.

Building on the strong foundation established by our current and past leadership teams, I would focus as Vice Chair on supporting the Chair, strengthening cross-WG coordination, and ensuring that IEEE 802.19 continues to provide credible, technically grounded guidance on coexistence to regulators and industry stakeholders. I would welcome the opportunity to continue supporting the group and membership in advancing its objectives.

I will be attending the upcoming Vancouver F2F meeting in person and would be happy to meet to discuss my candidacy or any priorities for IEEE 802.19, either informally during the week or via a brief one-on-one discussion.

Thank you for your consideration, and I look forward to continuing to work with all of you.

Kind regards,
Pelin Salem, PhD
Cisco Systems
