RE: stds-80220-eval-criteria: Capacity evaluation

Larry, Todd and Joanne,

Thanks for your input to the evaluation criteria.

I have a question for clarification regarding your input to section 1.2 (reproduced below for convenience):

"This document presents the criteria used for the evaluation of air interface (i.e. combined MAC/PHY) proposals for the future 802.20 standard. As such, the evaluation criteria emphasize the MAC/PHY dependent IP performance of an 802.20 system.  While other system aspects, e.g. TCP/IP and the backhaul network, will affect system level performance, these criteria are intended for the evaluation of the MAC/PHY aspects of the system only. "

Are you suggesting that protocols other than PHY/MAC not be modeled in the simulations?

My understanding from the PAR is that charter of the 802.20 group is to develop MAC/PHY specifications of an air-interface optimized for IP-data transport. The only way we can be sure that MAC/PHY we develop is optimized for IP-data transport is to assess the performance by using IP-data/protocol models in the simulations.

Regards,
Farooq

Evaluation Correspondence Group,

In response to Farooq's request for submissions by June 23, we have taken the material from contribution C802.20-03/33r1 concerning capacity evaluation and incorporated it to the posted evaluation criterion document (ver01). We have left the change log on so you can track the changes when you update the master document.

We have also used the document comments feature to make comments on some of the recently submitted text.

We originally attached the document to this email. However, the email bounced since the document is now too big (316Kbyte) to attach to emails on the reflector. Mark Klerer seeing the bounced email volunteered to place it in the drop box today. We also have sent a copy to Farooq directly.
