The agenda item "simulation and evaluation of various channel bandwidths" was discussed over today's (3/30) ECCG conference call. The group decided to use two sets of spectrum allocation in evaluation:
- 2X5 MHz (total 10 MHz) and
- 2X15 MHz (total 30 MHz)
It was also pointed out that this issue can be revisited if some inconsistencies are found in simulation data comparison/scaling across these two spectrum allocations.
The issues that need to be further addressed are:
1- Tx power allocation:
Does the Maximum total transmitter power of 43dBm applies to a single carrier or it is the total power to be shared across carriers in case of multi-carrier deployment?
2- Spectral mask requirement:
One possibility is that proposals specify both its channel bandwidth and its "necessary bandwidth" and justify the ability to support their specified number of carriers within the spectrum allocation specified. Both a single carrier Tx emission mask and out of band/block emission limits/mask may be required.
3- Inter-carrier Interference:
Proposals with multiple carriers within the spectrum allocation may have to simulate the inter-carrier leakage in order to justify the number of carriers used within the spectrum allocation.
4- Scaling of simulation data between 2X5 MHz and 2X15 MHz spectrum allocation:
In order to accommodate cases where a proposal choose to simulate only a single spectrum allocation, a scaling between the 2 sets of spectrum allocation needs to be defined.
Please provide written contributions if you have input on any of the issues mentioned above. We plan to continue discussion on this topic over the next evaluation criteria call (13 April 2004).

Farooq
