The 802.20 systems must be designed to provide ubiquitous mobile broadband wireless access in a cellular architecture. The system architecture must be a point to multipoint system that works from a base station to multiple devices in a non-line of sight outdoor to indoor scenario.  The system must be designed to enable a macro-cellular architecture with allowance for indoor penetration in a dense urban, urban, suburban and rural environment.

The system architecture must be a point to multipoint or mesh system that works from a base station to multiple devices in a non-line of sight outdoor to indoor scenario.  The system must be designed to enable a macro, micro, pico -cellular architecture with allowance for indoor penetration in a dense urban, urban, suburban and rural environment.



Rational

1)      The text of the document should not preclude the use of other network solutions that are only possible in an IP network.
