Hello Folks,
It is now sometime as document draft-yegin-dna-l2-hints-02.txt has been accepted as a working group item and document of the DNA Working Group. Its name has therefore changed to draft-ietf-dna-link-information-00.txt
This document attempts to capture the information that are available from various link layers technologies (802.11, 3GPP, 3GPP2...) and that can assist the layer 3 of a mobile node in the process of detecting attachment to an IPv6 network.
Obviously the work done within .21 will benefit the progress of this document as .21 is intending to provide the mechanisms that would assist the layer 3 in optimising such a detection by the knowledge of wireless link information.
We would be glad if 21 people could take a look at that document and bring up issues they may identify. Please do so within the dna mailing list. This mail was informational only!
Best regards
Eric njedjou

Certain network access technologies are capable of providing various link-layer status information to IP. Link-layer event notifications can help IP expeditiously detect configuration changes. This draft provides a non-exhaustive catalogue of information available from well-known access technologies.
