Re: Format of suggested draft changes
Just a note that this is the preferred method for modification of DRAFT
documents in many IEEE and 802 groups, including 802.16. This method of
presentation is very helpful when viewing changes to existing documents.
Members can see exactly what a comment or contribution proposes changing in
a section, and what is not. Note that 'balloons' are normally turned off and
the changes are shown 'in-line'. The editorial notes that Clint refers to
are part of the required IEEE Amendment format to standards document and are
part of any Amendment DRAFT. 802.21's original standard DRAFT will not have
such language. Comments and contributions to the DRAFT do not normally use
the same editorial language. Instead, they more typically use language like:
[In P802.16e/D9, subclause 6.3.2.3.5 Ranging Request (RNG-REQ) message, page
40, line 20 through page 41, line 50; modify as:]
with listing of the text and appropriate redline changes indicating the
specific proposed changes (both additions and deletions).
But, of course, each group can choose its own requirements for comment and
contribution submission format.
Thanks,
Phillip Barber
