Dear All, http://mentor.ieee.org/802.21/dcn/09/21-09-0173-00-0000-single-radio-ho-liaison-from-wimax-forum.doc We have received a liaison from Network
Working Group in WiMAX Forum. I have posted it on the document server. We
will discuss this as part of our Opening Plenary. Best Regards -Vivek November 11, 2009 To: Vivek cc: cc: Vladimir Yanover, Wonil Roh, Co-Chairs WiMAX Forum TWG Subject: Single Radio
Handover Project in IEEE 802.21 Working Group Dear Vivek, The Network Working Group (NWG) in
WiMAX Forum has been working on specification for interworking between WiMAX and
WLAN systems. As part of this effort, NWG has been developing the system
architecture for single radio and dual radio handovers between WiMAX and the
above mentioned systems The NWG understands that the IEEE
802.21 Working Group has initiated a project on single radio handovers between
different radio access technologies. This effort in IEEE 802.21 WG can
complement the efforts of NWG by defining the components that are outside the
scope of NWG. Some of the aspects that may be addressed by IEEE 802.21 WG are -
·
Inter-RAT
information exchange to optimize network discovery and selection ·
Measurement
parameters and measurement report across different access systems ·
Cell
selection/reselection criteria ·
Support of MIH
protocol during pre-registration to target access system The NWG looks forward to working
closely with IEEE 802.21 WG in defining the complete solution for single radio
handovers between WiMAX and other access systems. Best Regards, Prakash Iyer, NWG Chair Max Riegel, NWG Co-Chair Jicheol Lee, NWG Vice Chair cc: Roger Marks (Chair WiMAX Forum Technical Steering
Committee) |
