Re: [802.3_100GCU] Item 1: centralized processing... Consensus Building Group: Channel Analysis Method for 802.3bj

‘Will clarify  in Item 2 thread but it looks convenient to create a working set of s-parameters which are processed by reference Tx/Rx algorithms per port type.

Rich,

By “Tx/Rx basic filters”, do you mean the Tx/Rx termination models (s-parameters), or Tx/Rx filters (behavioral/parametric description of the filters)?

I see a need for both, so that the channel impairments can be independently evaluated, as you say below.

It seems make sense to classify channel files (s-parameters) into

1)      raw data and

2)      TX/RX basic filters

Use these to determine channel working set which a TX/RX algorithm operates on.

That way filters and algorithms may be independently reviewed per port type.

Making use of email threads can save much meeting time but may clutter your mail boxes. So,  sorry for that in advance.

Limiting threads on “Consensus Building for Channel Analysis Method for 802.3bj” to a focused topics seems more useful. Perhaps we can save meetings for what needs more vetting.  I will kick off some of these topics in future emailing.

Thanks,

Rich

Colleagues,

I took an action item from IEEE P802.3bj 100 Gb/s Backplane and Copper Cable Task Force Interim Meeting following presentation on Consensus Building Group Report Channel Analysis Method for 802.3bj Qualification and Specification (http://grouper.ieee.org/groups/802/3/bj/public/may12/diminico_02a_0512.pdf)

to announce continuation of calls on the topic.

Please reply to cdiminico@xxxxxxxx to receive meeting schedule and agenda if you are not on the distribution. Next Call Planned (time subject to change before announcement) : Thursday, June 7, 2012 8:30 AM-10:00 AM (UTC-08:00) Pacific Time (US & Canada).
