Dear Saeki-san, Thank You for Your email. I took some time to answer it, mainly due to the excessive work load. Regarding my comments: I reviewed Your slide and the formula seems basic enough to be included in the spreadsheet right away. I do not see any limitations. How do You plan to provide the chirp parameter C? Do You provision it to be estimated automatically (if so, what is the formula You need to use)) or be introduced by hand (if so, how do we assure that a user does not put something unreasonable ?). Regarding Your second question - the spreadsheet is relevant to the standard in one simple way. Whatever numbers we decide to put in the standard tables, at the end of the day when placed in the spreadhseet, they should ideally indicate that the system is feasible and that the received eye patter will not be closed. Please note here that the spreadsheet operates on the worst case scenario assumptions, which means that we are more likely to observe better system performance in reality. All in all, I believe that the parameters relevant for us are the values we input i.e. Tx output power and Rx sensitivity, channel loss figures, acceptable limit for the transmission penalties and TDP. As far as TDP value is concerned, please note that the TDP modelling is very pessimistic (please see the attached white paper) and it is very hard to say how close it could be to a real system some companies can build. I would say that again empiric verification will be needed. Hope that clarifies Your doubts. Dear Marek, This is Naoto Saeki of NEC. Thank you for your great work to update the spread sheet for 10GE-PON. I am trying to understand this complicated spread sheet and add dispersion penalty by LD charp. Please find attached pdf file and comment me. I have a basic question for relevancy between spread sheet and standard document. Frankly say, is it needed to define a specification value in standard ? or just tool for help to understand and estimate optical link model? I would like to know which parameter should be defined by the spread sheet. I can only find the value of TDP that may have relevancy to the spread sheet. If so, how can we estimate TDP for 10GE-PON. In my understanding, TDP for 802.3ah was defined with experimental validation. How accurate the value of TDP in the spread sheet? I hope you will advice me on this topics.
