[8023-10GEPON] May meeting report
Dear Colleagues,
May meeting minutes (unapproved) and presentation materials have been posted on the web at http://www.ieee802.org/3/av/public/2008_05/index.html.
I thank all meeting participants for enduring several meetings lasting 11 hours. We have reviewed 269 comments against D1.3 (including two comments accepted from the floor)
- Resolved: 254 (majority of E and ER were processed in bulk)
- Withdrawn: 13
- Deferred: 2
The final comment report is posted at http://www.ieee802.org/3/av/public/2008_05/3av_0805_comments_d1_3_accepted.pdf.
The deferred comments (#1458 and #1459) refer to an alternative method of calculating FEC overhead and slowing down the data rate to allow parity insertion. These comments were deferred until we have more detailed analysis of this proposal and the proposal currently in the draft (see motion #4).
I also would like to point group's attention to comment 1384. This comment was reviewed and accepted at the meeting, however, not all supplemental files were presented (the remedy suggests adding the Data Detector state diagram for the OLT). I ask the task force members to review the supplemental file 3av_0805_kramer_5.pdf and, if any mistakes are found, to submit a comment for the next draft.
Our next meeting will take place in Denver, Colorado on July 14-17. Below is our schedule in preparation for the July meeting:
June 6 - Draft 1.802 is to be published
June 20 - D1.802 comments are due
July 3 - D1.802 comment responses are to be published
July 3 - Draft submission to 802.3 for WG ballot preview
July 15-17 - Comment resolution during July Plenary meeting
Plan for the July meeting:
802.3 Opening session
---------------------
– Chair will give an overview of the P802.3av draft at the 802.3 Opening session in July
TF Meeting Tuesday – Thursday
-----------------------------
- The scope of comments against D1.802 should be on technical completeness of the draft.
– We will do live editing of the draft during the July 2008 meeting, in order to produce D2.0 by 802.3 closing session.
802.3 Closing session
---------------------
– Present all changes between D1.802 and D2.0
– Make a motion to start the WG ballot
I ask all task force members to make travel arrangements which will allow them to stay till the end of the 802.3 closing session on Thursday, July 17th.
Thank you,
Glen
