Dear Colleagues,
I attach two further documents in support of the DMD scaling agenda item
for the ad hoc telecon tomorrow.
1. Background document from David Cunningham on the derivation of the
relationship between DMD and refractive index profiles in support of his
presentation at the interim meeting
2. Cambridge document on the development of refractive-index profiles
with perturbations which are scaled to result in fibers which are close
to the target worst-case DMD without any additional scaling procedure.
We hope that this provides useful material for discussion in tomorrow’s
conference call and will help to move forward the discussion on the need
to develop an agreed model for 62.5-um FDDI-grade MMF
