The issue was raised as to the scrambler polynomial exploding the number of
line errors.
In 100BASE-TX (well actually FDDI over copper), the scrambler arrangement
was specifically chosen not to increase the number of errors received from
the line. A single bit hit, is still a single bit hit. Of course NRZI
often turns a single bit hit into two when you convert to NRZ -- but that
is a different story.
