RE: RS minimum IPG
Yariv,
The minimum IPG allowed is 5 bytes. Since the start delimiter must be in
lane 0, 4 of the idle bytes will be in the column before the start. 5 bytes
is the minimum that can be ensured to code into the 64B/66B code. Also, many
MAC implementers prefer to have a minimum IPG to give them some time to
handle the prior packet before getting the next one.

Subject: RS minimum IPG
Hi guys,
I heard everybody say that IPG can shrink to 4 bytes. Can anyone tell me
what is the reason for this number ?
Is those 4 bytes must be in the same column?
