RE: [802.3ae] Gig Ethernet over SONET
David, et al,
X.86 is another standard for "Ethernet over SONET" that is
specific to Ethernet and does not include RPR and other protocols and
does not use modifications of the IPG. X.86, "Ethernet over
LAPS", was approved at ITU-T SG7 last March. I have attached
to approved drafts involved with that standard. X.86 is a very
simple mapping technology that has proven to be very reliable in
testing.

Charles,
The draft standard being developed in ANSI T1X1.5 is
available at the URL below. This
work has been underway there since fall 1999. That draft
will likely form the basis for
the recently initiated effort in ITU-T SG15 Q.11.

Subject: [802.3ae] Gig Ethernet over SONET
Appreciate any information or pointers on Ethernet over SONET?
Some one mentioned that there is an ITU standard which specifies
the transport Ethernet as a concatenated signal in the SONET
frame.
