Presentations for Nov. 5 meeting
Dear colleagues,
I want to get a sense of what type of meeting we will have on November
5 - big and formal or small and informal? That depends on how many
people are thinking of giving a presentation. If you are, please send
me email, describing the topic and how much time you will need.
If we don't have many formal presentations, I would like this meeting
to adopt a more informal agenda...if it's a small group, we can huddle
around a whiteboard and talk.
Possible topics for discussion and presentations:
- Definition of time variance of a channel and algorithms to measure
it. Attempt to answer Exercise 2.
- Test procedure to measure time variance of a channel. (Channel can
be singlemode or multimode fiber, though I suspect most people want to
focus on multimode fiber for this topic.)
- Appoint volunteers to conduct the tests, with results due in the
January meeting.
- PMD related link design recommendations to P802.3ae.
- Our report to P802.3ae, including what it should say about the
pre-1992 high-PMD fiber.
- Equalization architecture issues - equalization gain vs. penalties,
power dissipation.
