From serial PMD call, 17 April
RIN measurement filter
----------------------
After discussion, a RIN measurement filter in the 10-12 GHz range was
preferred to the default 7.5 GHz, as for RIN, higher receiver bandwidth is
"worse".
*** Question to all: does actual RIN measurement hardware allow this or are
you constrained by filters provided by the test equipment manufacturer?
We'd like to know if the main types/makes of commercial equipment out there
could cope.
Interworking 1310nm <-> 1550 nm
-------------------------------
Probably feasible. Could be seen as an "extra performance" extension like
20km 1GE transceivers vs. standard's 5 km. Propose take no action within
the standard.
Delay maximum
-------------
Clause 44.3 refers. Little interest or understanding here. May concern the
PMA (clause 51) more than the PMD. Why specify the PMD/PMA to a few hundred
BT (UI) when the link adds up to millions? Is there a total delay limit
needed by the higher levels? David to raise on reflector in separate email.
dB(OMA) vs. dB(OMA/2)?
----------------------
Discussion of whether something "like" the traditional mean power value
(OMA/2) is more familiar (good) or too similar (misleading). David Kabal to
poll the serial reflector.
Next meeting
------------
Usual time and place proposed.
