I took the action item to try to craft some objective language to reflect Steffen’s ‘disturbance’ requirement. What we are trying to do is capture the notion that the link doesn’t go down if there is an impulsive disturbance for up to 50msec, but with enough description that we know this can’t be hitting all the time. The objectives aren’t the
place to write a full spec on what the impulse noise environment looks like, so it’s a little slippery – you can’t specify the rate at which impulses may hit. Also, I’ve specifically left out the notion of the BER being met. So, here is my stab: ·
Maintain link in the presence of nonrepetitive impulse events lasting up to at least 50 msec. My alternative for ‘nonrepetitive’ was either ‘transient’ or ‘infrequent’.
